How it works
Two steps, and the first one rules.
2 · Then the order
Among those who pass the filter, we sort by what you have in common: interests, languages, distance and country. We only show what actually matches.
3 · Then you talk
When the interest is mutual the chat opens. There are also rooms by country and interest, moments, plans, trips, nearby events and games to break the ice.
What we do not do
Your exact location never leaves your phone
It is rounded to a one-kilometre area before being sent. Nobody sees where you are, only roughly how far away.
Religion and orientation are optional
Each with its own consent, and you can delete them whenever you want. Orientation never filters or scores.
No ads, no data selling
There are no adverts, we do not sell your data and we use no tracking cookies. The service is free.
Real moderation
Reports with frozen evidence, a human decision on every case and the right to appeal. Over 18s only.

How much does it cost?
Nothing. CHATENA is free, with no adverts and no paid features.
Who can see me?
Only people who meet your required conditions and whose conditions you meet. It is mutual: if they cannot see you, you cannot see them.
Can people tell where I live?
No. Your device blurs your location to a one-kilometre area before sending it, and other people only see an approximate distance in kilometres.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, from inside the app and without writing to anyone. After thirty days everything is deleted, except what the law or safety requires us to keep.
